Leonard Slatkin will work with young musicians aged 15 to 30 as a faculty member of the 2021 Taipei Music Academy & Festival. Originally scheduled to take place on the campus of the National Taipei University of the Arts, the program has been moved to the San Francisco Conservatory due to increased pandemic restrictions in Taiwan. Artistic Director Cho-Liang Lin and his team worked quickly to reorganize all aspects of this immersive educational opportunity in which students partake in lessons and classes about solo repertoire, orchestral repertoire, audition preparation, musicianship, and technique.

Slatkin will lead the students in concerts at the Frost Amphitheater on the campus of Stanford University and the Hume Concert Hall at the San Francisco Conservatory on July 30 and 31 at 7:30 p.m. Pacific. The performances will be streamed by the Violin Channel worldwide and aired on Taiwanese TV.

Program:

RAVEL: Le Tombeau de Couperin
STUCKY: Chamber Concerto
BEETHOVEN: Symphony No. 3, “Eroica”
